Accepting these terms

These Terms of Use apply when you visit or use Reststop.com.au. By using the website, you agree to these terms and our Privacy and Cookies Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the website.

In these terms, “Reststop”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Reststop.com.au and its operator, George Lambroglou, a sole trader based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia (ABN 36 947 646 716).

About Reststop

Reststop is a free Australian road-trip facility directory. It helps visitors search for public toilets, rest areas, accessible facilities, showers, water, dump points, service centres and other practical travel stops.

Reststop is an independent information service. It is not a government agency, emergency service, road authority, accommodation provider, facility owner or operator, and it does not control the places listed on the website.

Information and accuracy

Facility information may come from government datasets, councils, open-data sources, facility operators, mapping services, public websites and user corrections. We aim to present information carefully and identify unknown or unverified details, but information can be incomplete, delayed, inaccurate or out of date.

Opening hours, road access, fees, permits, water availability, accessibility, vehicle suitability, overnight rules, facility condition and other circumstances can change without notice. A map pin or listing does not guarantee that a facility is open, safe, lawful to use, suitable for your vehicle or directly accessible from the road shown.

You should confirm important details using current signs, official notices, facility operators, councils, road authorities or other authoritative sources, especially when a stop is essential for health, safety, accessibility, fuel, drinking water or fatigue management.

Travel safety and emergencies

Reststop is a planning tool, not a real-time safety or emergency service. Do not use it as your only source for road closures, fires, floods, severe weather, emergencies or other changing hazards.

Follow road signs, traffic controls, lawful directions and advice from emergency services and road authorities. Do not stop where it is unsafe or prohibited. If there is an emergency in Australia, call 000.

You remain responsible for your route, vehicle, fatigue management, supplies, communications and decisions while travelling.

Facility access and local rules

A facility appearing near a highway or route does not necessarily have direct, legal or safe access from that road. Some locations may require a detour, may be accessible from only one direction, or may be unsuitable for large vehicles, caravans, trailers or people with particular mobility needs.

You must comply with local signs, parking restrictions, permits, gates, operating hours, property boundaries and instructions from the facility owner or authority. Reststop does not give permission to enter private, restricted or closed land.

Water, accessibility and overnight stays

Water

Do not assume water is safe to drink because a tap or water point is shown. Drink water only where current authoritative information or signage confirms it is potable. Water quality and availability can change.

Accessibility

Accessibility labels are based on available source information and may not describe every feature, obstruction, gradient, transfer space or current condition. Confirm that a facility meets your individual requirements before relying on it.

Overnight parking and sleeping in a vehicle

Parking, resting, sleeping in a vehicle and camping are not the same activity and may be regulated differently. Laws and restrictions vary between states, councils, roads, reserves and individual facilities. A listing does not grant permission to stay overnight or camp. Check signs and current local rules.

Maps, directions and external services

Maps, route lines, distances and coordinates are planning aids. They may contain positioning errors or may not reflect road works, closures, access restrictions, vehicle limits or current conditions.

Directions links may open Google Maps or another external service. Reststop does not control those services or guarantee that a suggested route is lawful, open, safe or suitable for your vehicle. Review the route before travelling and follow current signs and official instructions.

External websites, source records and third-party services have their own terms, privacy practices and content. A link does not mean Reststop endorses or controls the external service.

Submissions and corrections

You may send corrections, location suggestions or other information to Reststop. You must provide information honestly, lawfully and to the best of your knowledge. Do not submit confidential, defamatory, misleading, infringing or sensitive personal information.

By submitting content, you grant Reststop a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to review, verify, reproduce, edit, combine and publish that content for the purpose of operating and improving the website. You confirm that you have the right to provide the content and grant this licence.

Reststop may verify, edit, decline, remove or delay any submission. A submission does not guarantee publication or a particular response. Personal information in submissions is handled under our Privacy and Cookies Policy.

Acceptable use

You must not use Reststop to:

  • break the law, encourage unsafe conduct or interfere with another person’s rights;
  • submit false, deceptive, defamatory, abusive or malicious information;
  • introduce malware, probe security controls or disrupt the website or its providers;
  • impersonate another person or falsely claim authority over a facility;
  • circumvent access controls, rate limits or technical protections;
  • mass-extract, scrape, republish or commercially exploit the website or its compiled content without written permission, except for ordinary search-engine indexing; or
  • use automated access in a way that places an unreasonable load on the service.

We may restrict access, block abusive traffic or take other reasonable action to protect the website, its users and its service providers.

Intellectual property and data

Reststop’s branding, original writing, page design, software, data arrangement and other original website material are owned by or licensed to Reststop and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

Underlying facts and third-party material remain subject to the rights, licences and terms of their original owners or publishers. Reststop does not claim ownership of government or third-party source material merely because it appears in a listing.

You may use the public website for personal travel planning and share links to its pages. Other reproduction, redistribution, automated extraction or commercial reuse requires written permission unless the law permits it.

Advertising

Reststop may display advertising to fund the free service. Advertising is supplied by third parties and does not mean Reststop recommends or guarantees an advertiser, product or service.

Any dealings with an advertiser or external provider are between you and that party. Advertising and related data handling are also addressed in our Privacy and Cookies Policy.

Service availability and changes

We may add, change, correct, suspend or remove features, listings or pages at any time. The website may be unavailable because of maintenance, provider outages, security events, network conditions or circumstances outside our control.

We do not promise that every facility, road or region will be covered, that the website will always be available, or that errors will be corrected immediately.

Liability and Australian law

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right, guarantee, remedy or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including rights that may apply under the Australian Consumer Law.

Subject to those non-excludable rights, Reststop is provided on an “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we do not make warranties or representations that the website or its information is complete, current, uninterrupted, error-free or suitable for a particular trip, person, vehicle or purpose.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Reststop and its operator are not liable for loss, injury, damage, cost or delay arising from reliance on facility information, unavailable or unsuitable facilities, route or map errors, road conditions, third-party services, unauthorised access, website interruption or a failure to follow current signs and official advice.

You are responsible for making reasonable checks and taking appropriate precautions before relying on information supplied by the website.

General terms

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. Courts with jurisdiction in Victoria may hear disputes relating to these terms, subject to any rights you have to bring a matter elsewhere under applicable law.

If a part of these terms is invalid or unenforceable, the remaining parts continue to apply. A failure to enforce a term immediately is not a waiver of that term.

We may update these terms when the website, its services or legal requirements change. The current version will be published on this page with a revised update date. Your continued use after an update means the updated terms apply from that time.
